2014 Acura ILX

It’s the second year for the Acura ILX and this sedan has done more than maintain its luxurious style. Acura’s 2014 upgrade is all about the interior. But the ILX did not sacrifice power for style. You can still get your hands on the same powerful engines the ILX introduced in 2013.

And you can expect the hybrid model later this fall.

With the crisp, elegant lines and beautifully appointed interior of the larger family members, the 2014 Acura ILX is every inch an Acura. Emphasizing that point, the grille wears the familiar stylized capital “A”, and if you’re thinking that it looks more like a draftsman’s dividers well spotted! That similarity is not accidental, as this design tool is used for carefully marking out dimensions and proportions.

And the ILX has great proportions.

Wider and lower than its Civic stablemate, the front wheel-drive ILX is a graceful and athletic four-door sedan. From the subtle nose of the grille, the hood angles up to a steeply raked windshield, that flows into a long sloping, fastback-style roofline. Along the flanks, the body narrows in towards the rear above a waistline that kicks up at the rear door handle, creating almost cat-like haunches.

Think of the ILX as a softer and gentler version of the hard-edged TSX.

While the ILX is Acura’s smallest car, it is definitely not cramped. The 2013’s interior theme described as “dual personal structure” continues on in the 2014 model with a sense of individual cockpits for the front-seat occupant. But what’s new is the revamped perforated leather interior.

It’s another notch of luxury to add to the ILX’s belt. Other notable upgrades to the interior include enhanced audio with an upgraded subwoofer and active noise cancellation technology that works to keep the cabin quiet.

Comfort and convenience have also been enhanced in the 2014 Acura ILX. You’ll find heated 8-way power front seats to accompany the new leathered layout. And with standard keyless access and a multi-angle rearview camera, the Acura ILX is easier to operate than ever.

Three engine/transmission options are available. A 2.0-liter, four-cylinder mated to a 5-speed “Sequential SportShift” automatic transmission, a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder with a 6-speed manual, for the driver who wants a more involving sporting experience, and a hybrid that marries a 1.5-liter four-cylinder to an electric motor and an automatic transmission.

In 2014, Acura has upped the luxury without leaving its price range. You can get the ILX starting at $26,900.* The ILX is still a beautifully proportioned and well-equipped sedan that proves a car can be elegant and refined despite compact dimensions. With the ILX, Acura has proven that luxury can still be found in the smallest of packages.
