Aston Martin brings race car portfolio to the U.S.

Aston Martin Racing, the motorsport division of the Aston Martin, recently returned to the racing scene in the United States. The sports car producer based in Britain debuted at Laguna Seca, part of the American Le Mans Series, and won the race.

Since this feat, we have also seen Aston Martin taking part at the Rolex 24 in the famous Daytona circuit. It fielded two V8 Vantage GT4 in partnership with the Multimatic Motrosports.

Aston Martin recently confirmed that it will unleash other race cars like the V12 Vantage GT3 and the Vantage GTE to take part in local competitions starting 2013. This was made possible because of its partnership with The Racers Group. The collaboration gives birth to TRG-AMR, an entity that will be laser focused on bringing Aston Martin vehicles to the most prestigious racing events in the U.S.

The TRG-AMR will initially field 10 race cars for this motorsport season.

Come February, the TRG-AMR produced Vantage GTE will be unwrapped in Sebring. The test sessions will be a few weeks ahead of the Twelve Hours of Sebring that takes place in March. The V8 Vantage GT4 samples will be ready for testing starting January.

TRG-AMR is also preparing its version of the Vantage GT3 that may join the Pirelli World Challenge Series and the Grand American Rolex racing series.

The partnership is also assembling a management team and putting up the needed infrastructure so TRG-AMR will be capable of assisting any customer team that wants to set up an Aston Martin for racing in the U.S.

Through the years, Aston Martin race cars have proven their worth. The Vantage GTE was able to bring the brand to a podium finish this year at the 12 Hours of Sebring. It also finished third at the gruelling 24 Hours of Le Mans.

It also placed second at the World Endurance Championship.

The Racers Group is a company headquartered in California. It boasts of a long list of success in the racing world with its first attempts traced back in the 1990s. For sure, the TRG team will bring more wins and trophies to the Aston Martin collection.

Video: Aston Martin releases video of Vanquish in Monterey

It has been a month since the Concours d Elegance, but Aston Martin just released a video of its current flagship, the refreshed Vanquish. The reborn model was driven along the scenic roads of California.

Just like other vehicles of the Aston Martin lineup, the Vanquish uses similar design lines although is distinct from the DBS that it replaces. As the One-77 stops rolling out of the production line, the Vanquish will now take the throne as the king of the Aston Martin garage.

The power of the Aston Martin Vanquish will come from a V-12 engine with a displacement of six liters. The numbers are impressive with an output pegged at 565 horses and a torque of 457 lb-ft. The power of the engine is transferred to the rear wheels through a six speed automatic gearbox controlled using a paddle shifter.

Sadly, the Vanquish will not get a manual transmission version. We also heard that Aston Martin is not working on a dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

The Vanquish easily zooms from 0 to 100 kilometers an hour in a matter of 4.1 seconds. It can get to its top speed of 295 kph. It is tagged as The Ultimate Super Grand Tourer and perhaps there is really no need for another choice of transmission, after all the crowd that can buy the Vanquish may after all have their dedicated cars for the track.

The Aston Martin Vanquish will officially roll out early next year labeled as a 2014 release. The flagship vehicle has a tag price of $279,995 inclusive of appropriate gas-guzzler tariffs and destination charges.

Check out the video of the Vanquish below:

Most people aren’t lucky enough to ever drive in one of these beautiful English cars — but if you ever, ever, ever get the opportunity to sit down in one of these gorgeous things it will probably be when you buy used cars

Aston Martin set to produce Roadster version of the V12 Vantage

Aston Martin fans, hear ye! Hear ye! Perhaps you will like what we are about to tell you. Your favorite car brand is set to release a Roadster version of their powerful and slick V12 Vantage. The arrival of the roadster is inevitable as the V12 Vantage evolves although the timing of its release is pretty surprising.

Well it comes a few years after the roll out of the V12 and that all eyes are now on the Vanquish.

Wrong timing or not, we still welcom the Aston Martin V12 Vantage Roadster. Who will not? The poweplant remains to be the 5.9-liter V12 and gives the 510 horsepower grunt and the brutal 470 lb-ft of torque. The powerful engine is linked with the six-speed manual gearbox as seen from its older hard-top sibling.

The Roadster might actually be the last V12 from the Aston garage to sport a manual transmission with the Vanquish only offering automatic.

A walkaround the V12 can help you distinguish it from its V8 cousins. You cannot miss the rear-spoiler that has been kicked up, front splitter made of carbon fiber, and the louvres on the bonnet.

The suspension of the V12 Vantage Roadster has been modified to adjust to the loss stiffness. This might result to a more compromising (or uncompromising depending on how you ride) drive compared to the V12 Vantage Coupe. We still do not have the numbers from the weighing scale but with the hard-top tipping the scale at 1,680 kilos, the soft-top might weight around 1,750.

The conversion to a roadster adds weight to its overall architecture.

There are also rumors (as hinted by images surfacing all over the web) that there will only be 101 units to be released. This makes predicting the tag price a bit difficult. The V8 roadster adds about 14,000 quids to the cost of the Coupe. The V12 has a sticker price of 135,000 quids. Do the math plus add the fact that the V12 Roadster might be the last manual shifting Aston.

Status. That somehow adds to how it will burn a hole on your bank account.

Video: Aston Martin showcases revised V8 Vantage

Aston Martin recently the updated version of their V8 Vantage during the motor show in Geneva. The changes on the outside are not major like the new bumper in front and on the rear, new diffuser and splitter but the more significant revisions happened under its skin.

The output of the base model of the V8 Vantage has been improved to 430 HP and a torque of 361 lb-ft. The steering ratio has also been tweaked to be faster while the brakes are bigger and the tires are wider. Alfa also gives consumers an option to have a 7-speed Sportshift II transmission .

The V8 Vantage according to Aston Martin is where pure motion blends well with total control. It is pretty vague what they mean with that but what is clear is that looks great as it blazes thru the dark night on the streets of Paris. The sound of the engine is impeccable too and just to … for.

We are pretty sure that any driver will wish to be behind its wheel, drive for hours, and appreciate the orchestra of the exhaust pipes.

The plot of the video is just simple but the cinematography is worth some praises. The washed-out colour serves the dramatic purposes of the video. Hmm we are just wondering if the story could have been better if the driver of the Aston Martin left a bit earlier, the meet up would with the wife or girlfriend or mistress could be somewhere dry.

Aston Martin fields Vantage GT4 to Grand-Am CTSCC

Aston Martin means business when it comes to its return to the race track in North America. The carmaker rolled out the prototype of the DBR1-2 for the American LeMans last year and gaining top spot at the Laguna Seca, Road America, Mid Ohio, Mosport, and Long Beach.

This 2012, Aston Martin will be fielding two vehicles for the Grand-Am Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge or CTSCC.

The Vantage GT4 race car will be a product of Aston Martin s collaboration with Multimatic Motorsports, a company based in Toronto. The V8 Vantage will be the basis of the racecar.

The V8 Vantage is an excellent jump off point in building a vehicle for the CTSCC since the car has a very potent V8 4.7L engine and a chassis made from bonded aluminum. The Vantage GT4 might be a newbie in terms of the racing series in North America but in the European racing circuit particularly in the GT4 Cup and endurance racing.

Multimatic is also a big name in the CTSCC having ruled the race in 2008, 2005 and also back in 2002. The motorsports firm has also been a long-time partner of Aston Martin as they have been supplying the factory in Gaydon, England with the chassis made of carbon fiber for the Aston Martin One-77 supercar. They are also producing the V12 Vantage Zagato carbonfiber components.

During the season, Multimatic will be using the two cars for their campaign. The lead car will have Scott Maxwell backed up by Joe Foster. The other car will have professional driver and actor Patrick Dempsey and Chris Porritt who is the chief engineer of Aston Martin.

Aston Martin will be facing a pretty determined field during the Grand-Am race series. Ferrari will try to conquer the track with its 458 Italia while Audi will go for the top spot with their R8 LMS. There will also be prototype Corvettes built for the Daytona race.

The field at this year s CTSSC will be very different compared to last year s and fans can expect an exciting contest. Vroom! Vroom!
