Audi Gets Snippy, Survey To Prove That Want Diesels, Not Electric

2013 Audi TDI range

Due to concerns and increasing government automakers around the globe are to create vehicles that greater fuel efficiency and emissions.

Many automakers are on hybrid and electric technology to those goals, but not Volkswagen: VW and European companies have put of their eggs in the diesel That’s likely because of high comfort level diesel vehicles. In the U.S. the lay of the land is very different.

U.S. tried diesels in the 1970s and but were turned off by their engines and overpowering smells. diesel vehicles have to change American minds, but been relatively slow to on. That’s presenting growth for VW and its compatriots.

To make things difficult, the U.S. government has new fuel economy and emissions setting increasingly higher through the year 2025. standards are aimed at boosting of hybrids and plug-in vehicles, than diesels.

Volkswagen and have both criticized the new insisting that they U.S. and Asian automakers advantages and that they’ll the cost of cars for consumers. So however, U.S. officials been unwilling to budge.

VW hasn’t budged, either. it’s bringing an all-electric to the U.S.. the automaker’s marketing is still in overdrive, pushing diesel vehicles.

The same for VW’s sub-brand, Audi, American division president called the extended-range electric Volt a car for idiots .

Despite a sleek, sexy, fully Audi R8 in the latest Iron Man the company has since pulled the plug on its vehicle program .

So, a diesel-loving brand like to do?

First, hold a media-friendly rally in D.C. to make its to the press and to legislators.

Second, a survey that proves apparently like diesels than electric cars.

Audi Electric Cars

recently commissioned just a study from marketing Harris Interactive. Harris a total of 2,041 U.S. of whom 1,629 drove on a basis.

Audi says that the proves that Americans love to see more diesel in showrooms and more support for vehicles from the U.S. Among other things, the survey revealed that:

65% of drivers would be in support of efforts to make diesel accessible to the American public

66% of think the government should a tax incentive on clean diesel

57%. of American drivers the government has unfairly placed its in favor of hybrids and electrics clean diesel vehicles

59% of year old drivers said if the cost of diesel fuel was on par gasoline, they would a diesel-powered vehicle

only 39% of those 45+ said would purchase a diesel car a gas car if there was fuel price

That last item reflects the memories that drivers have of previous-generation vehicles. According to Audi of Scott Keogh, One of the reasons we are this disparity between age may be because younger generations have the same misconceptions diesel as older generations.

You old bromide-swilling fuddy-fuddies are stuck in ways, but the younguns know what.
