Vehicle Preview: 2014 BMW i3. The future promises even greater agility.

Posted on July 19, 2013 by Rallye BMW

We are all very loyal BMW Enthusiasts here, so we can state with confidence that there is nothing possibly better than the reveal of a new BMW model… Okay, maybe with the exception of the release of one!  But you get our point!  With the soon release of the all new BMW 4 Series Coupe, can you handle yet another astonishing unveiling?

As a BMW Enthusiast, you’re all very accustomed to this high caliper of success by now! We have full faith that you are ready to make room in your hearts for the 2014 BMW i3 electric hatch!

BMW’s revolutionary i3 electric hatch is said to be revealed at the end of July! If you are still a bit unfamiliar with the i3, this vehicle is essentially a rear-wheel drive electrical hatch due to be transformed from the admired, economically savvy concept into a real living, breathing fully functioning – the most efficient at that vehicle due in showrooms early next year! It will be the first model of the BMW i division to be released!

The electrical i division of BMW’s are eco-friendly and technological innovative, constructed with carbon fiber with new unsurpassed level of connectivity! Not to worry about appearance either!  The BMW i3 is a sporty electric vehicle due to its carbon fiber, light weight body!

According to BMW “A perfect 50:50 weight distribution has been maintained and four adults should be able to sit comfortably.”  The wheels are 19” and weigh a mere 15 pounds each!

The vehicle will be powered, from a rear-mounted, 110 pound electric motor and a lithium-ion battery that should run smoothly for approximately 80-100 miles of moderate driving.  It will impressively go from 0 to 60 mph in just about 7 seconds and the top speed is approximately 93 mph, which is not too shabby for a miniature electrical vehicle!   According to BMW “An ECO PRO mode, which sets the car’s regenerative braking system to its maximum setting can help boost this range by approximately 12 percent.”

Now in terms of charging, a word very commonly known and hated in today’s smart-phone day and age!  No one enjoys a low battery!  Quick charging has become somewhat of an expectation and a necessity… Am I right Apple iPhone owners?

Like Apple (which if you remember correctly was ranked only slightly above BMW in Forbes’s “World’s Most Powerful Brands” rankings) BMW’s electric division is said to charge very quickly, boosting the lithium-ion battery pack 80% in just 20 minutes! That seemingly unattainable speed is seriously impressive, even for a smart phone yet a smart vehicle!

The 2014 BMW i3 will be the world’s first fully networked electric car programed with a SIM card that will unlock the BMW ConnectedDrive apps.  BMW is keeping pricing on somewhat of the DL but has hinted its final targeted price to be in line with the 3 Series, somewhere in the low $40K price bracket!

Alright, we have an announcement that will put the icing on the cake for this one!  Earlier we stated that there is nothing better than a reveal of a new BMW, aside from the release of it…. Well there is.  Rallye BMW will have BMW i vehicles in stock when they are fully produced!

When the time comes, don’t forget to come to the dealership to test drive what may potentially be your very own, – truest to its meaning as ever before – Ultimate Driving Machine!
