Geneva motor show 2013 Cadillac ELR Autocar

Geneva motor show 2013: Cadillac ELR 5 March 2013 Cadillac has finally launched the production version of its Converj range-extender coupé, first seen at the 2009 Detroit show as a concept and now at the Geneva motor show . Now badged the Cadillac ELR, it’s due to go into production at the end of this year. The car uses the Chevrolet Volt /Vauxhall Ampera drivetrain. The body is all new, incorporating specific aerodynamic features to improve the car’s efficiency – the underbody is fully sealed and the Cadillac egg crate grille is modified. Despite these changes, the ELR’s coefficient of drag (cD) is 0.30, more than a Mercedes E-class Coupé’s 0.24. Underneath is a tweaked ...

2014 Cadillac ELR review

2014 Cadillac ELR An odd flagship if there ever was one, the ELR now sits at the top of Cadillac’s increasingly broad and increasingly world-class lineup. It’s what’s underneath this shapely coupe’s body that might raise a few eyebrows. Its chiseled lines certainly look the part, yet a largely unchanged Chevrolet Volt platform and powertrain underpins and motivates the $75,000 ELR. A Volt, in case you were wondering, stickers for around $35,000. That extra 40 big ones needs to buy a lot more than just leather trim and knee-shaking style. To see if it lives up to its pricetag, we plugged in and hit the road with Cadillac’s first-ever plug-in extended-range EV. ...

100 Years Ago Cadillac Brought Us the Electric Starter – IndyCar …

100 Years Ago, Cadillac Brought Us the Electric Starter – IndyCar Should Think About It The world hates change, but it is the only thing that has brought progress. — Charles Kettering Throughout the annals of automobile history, inventions, too many to name, have improved the car and its driving experience. 100 years ago, Cadillac was honored internationally with an award for offering the first electric ignition and starter. Yet, in today s modern world of IndyCar, the cars don t have an ignition starter. To be accurate, a patent for the electric starter first appeared in 1899 but the first invention that was actually workable, emerged from Charles Kettering at Dayton Engineering ...

Cadillac history 1959

The ’59 Caddy had it all — looks, performance, and comfort. It stood as the ultimate symbol of success, impressive and — yes — controversial. The outrageous tail fins and jet pod taillights evoked either a love it or leave it attitude with the public. It is interesting to note that Maurice D. Hendry, author of Cadillac: Standard of the World, The Complete Seventy-Year History . refused to include a picture of the regular production ’59 Cadillac in his book. He said that, This year saw the tail fins reach a literally ridiculous height. The fins had plenty of critics including this writer. Nevertheless, the 1959s overall were excellent. As cars — rocket fins ...

Cadillac ELR More Details On How the Volt Will Become a Caddy …

Cadillac ELR: More Details On How the Volt Will Become a Caddy (Hint: More Power) Cadillac Converj concept In spite of its woefully stupid name, the Cadillac Converj was the hit of the 2009 Detroit auto show. Beyond the buzz generated simply from its wedgy, mini-Gallardo looks, the 2+2 range-extended EV coupe added more fuel to the ”Why did they make the Volt a Chevy?” fire. As you certainly know, Cadillac has green-lighted a production version of the Converj, wisely renaming it the ELR in the process—although we’d still prefer a (properly spelled) real name to another bowl of alphabet soup. Since its production announcement, wild and occasionally entertaining rumors have swirled around ...

Cadillac Escalade for Sale / Find or Sell Used Cars Trucks and SUVs in USA

Cadillac Escalade Price Analytics About Cadillac Escalade Although the Cadillac Escalade wasn’t the first luxury SUV sold in the U.S. market, it was the first light truck in the history of the Cadillac brand. Early versions drew plenty of criticism, but in retrospect, the Escalade deserves much credit for being the vehicle that transformed Cadillac’s image from traditional and geriatric to youthful and flamboyant. Much of the Cadillac Escalade’s appeal is rooted in its over-the-top attitude. Generously proportioned inside and out, this sport-utility vehicle has a bold and angular face, exaggerated wreath-and-crest badging and chrome trim everywhere you look. There’s ...
