Maserati Ghibli, Bob Dylan And The Super Bowl Commercials

Super Bowl viewers expect just as much entertainment from the commercials as they do from the game itself, and on Sunday were inundated, as usual, by car companies. Only this time, they largely shifted from silly antics to a much more serious tone in particular, two ads from the newly-formed Fiat Chrysler Automobiles that introduced a new face and re-introduced an old one.

One of the earliest auto ads opened with rising star Quvenzhane Wallis as our guide, describing “our” past strengths, presumably as a nation, before proclaiming that the time to strike is now. The unmistakable wail of Italian pistons breaks the serenity and the Read More

Fiat and Chrysler Reorganize to Form Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA)

Just weeks after Fiat S.p.A. acquired all remaining shares of Chrysler Group LLC to take full control of the automaker, the two brands have come together to form a super-automaker that will be known from now on as Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA).

Fiat Board of Directors voted to establish the new company in the Netherlands, though it will continue to be considered British for tax purposes. Sales of the FCA stock will be available on the New York Stock Exchange beginning this October 1, and will also be sold in Milan. The international flavor suggests that neither side was comfortable being based in Italy or the United States.

Regardless of their headquarters, FCA has big plans ahead.

“Five years ago we began to cultivate a vision that went beyond industrial. Read More

2014 Chrysler 300C Varvatos Edition Is Back With AWD

As an encore to one of the only designer-automaker partnerships that we can actually get behind, Chrysler announced today that they will produce a new year of the 300C John Varvatos Limited Edition sedan. The deep dark toughness of Varvatos fashion meets the brash refinement of the Chrysler 300C, now with all-wheel drive.

Chrysler says that the 2013 300C Varvatos flew out of dealerships, and that demand led them to the decision to continue the partnership into this year. It’s hallmarks of unique exterior design cues and high-quality tailored interior materials will return, now with the intelligent AWD system that can disconnect the front axle for better fuel economy. All that for $44,480 MSRP which is a downrigh. Read More
