Chrysler Public With Dodge’s Electric Cars Missing

from gas2.0)

Yesterday, new CEO Sergio Marchionne presented the business plan he hopes save Chrysler, and bring back to the US market for the first in nearly 30 years. The company its plan during a live, marathon webcast, which was for two things: first, a virtually willingness to discuss future and, second, the conspicuous of New Chrysler’s much-ballyhooed ENVI division.

What happened to the EV? Can we expect some innovative tech from Marchionne’s new product future? The depressing

November 4th, 2009 was a big day for the New New (which had only just New Chrysler since Cerberus the company from Daimler in the not-so-distant past of 2007), and team totally blew it.

To be yesterday’s business plan did a lot of light on the company’s product (which was its stated goal) but absent from the company’s product roadmap (below) was the EV sportscar. The darling of Old New Chrysler’s line of “forward thinking” vehicles, the Dodge EV was said to be a for production in 2010.

You can see for yourself where the Dodge EV is headed below:

is simply no mention of the EV, no mention of a sporty car, and no plans to introduce a new small Dodge the 2013 calendar year. I do see, however, is a new FULL-SIZE CUV SUV) and a new Dodge Viper under consideration for 2012 and

That’s right: Marchionne’s to drag Dodge the brand to relevance in the 21st Century include efficient new EVs and lightweight from partners like Alcoa, and others, but rather of bigger CUV/SUVs and an all-new

Marchionne also plans to the current Dodge brand in a Dodge brand for “sporty, cars,” and a Ram brand with a new on over-the-road semis and new heavy-duty

OK—so there’s is no spectacular new EV hyper-exotic halo car coming in but as I’ve always expressed was a diversionary con to begin with and had any legs. The real problem is that Marchionne and his bunch seem able or willing to see the on the wall. Consider what proposing:

no new small cars until

more brands to spend dollars on — not less

bigger trucks, and CUVs — not smaller, efficient cars

And that’s Dodge! I still have Chrysler, and Fiat rants to about!

Maybe, though—just is a light at the end of the tunnel, and someone Chrysler realizes what a bunch of pseudo-ideas all this market posturing and purposeless really is. I hold on to this because, tucked away the webcast’s online slide Autoblog editor John found this:

It’s a picture of a black with a racing stripe. inside Dodge, hidden, is at least one person who understands Chrysler without ENVI is a and Dodge without the Ram is a sheep. A

So, while the Ram brand will at continue producing class-leading diesel engines (that’s right?) the only thing will separate the New New Dodge the competition will be some added racing stripes.

I’m kidding? Old New Dodge Nitro and New New Nitro, below.

Bigger cars, bigger bigger wheels, and lots of racing stripes = our tax-dollars at
