CITROEN C-Zero Electric Cars

The ceremonial handing over of the first two Citroën C-Zéro cars in the Czech Republic took place at the headquarters of RWE Transgas on Thursday, 28 April 2011, when the general director of Citroën in the CR, Frédéric Passemard, presented the keys of the electric cars to Martin Herrmann, Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO, RWE Transgas.

The Citroën C-Zéro, which appeared on world markets in September, meets the needs of many businesses aiming to achieve sustainable development and wishing to combine mobility with saving the environment. The Citroën C-Zéro fulfils these requirements in several ways. It is a 100% electric vehicle which was designed for ease of movement in the city.

It offers four seats, segment standard fixtures and fast charging up, while its range of 130 km is sufficient for everyday driving.

Citroën has reached a new milestone, as its general director in the CR Frédéric Passemard said today at a ceremony during which he presented the keys to Martin Herrmann, Chairman of the Board of Directors: “With the handover of the first Citroëns C-Zéro, we are experiencing a completely new moment together. For Citroën it is an honour to present the keys of the electric cars to the head of RWE Transgas which in the world and in the Czech Republic ranks among the most exemplary in taking a responsible approach to the environment. E-mobility 100% fuelled by electricity has become a very concrete reality.

The Citroën C-Zéro is the first electric car of the new generation which large car makers have introduced on the market, while RWE Transgas is our first customer in the Czech Republic to take hold of it. The Citroën C-Zéro is a car with zero fuel consumption, zero CO2 emissions and zero noise. It fulfils more than 90% of the daily needs of our customers, as its range reaches up to 130 km.

Complete charging using a standard 220 V socket takes six hours, while 80 % charging at a fast charging station takes a mere 30 minutes.

It is natural, therefore, that RWE Transgas, which is very active in creating innovative offers and infrastructures that develop e-mobility, and Citroën, whose C-Zéro perfectly illustrates its ‘Creative Technology’ slogan and which is among world leaders in the environmental protection field, are together looking for solutions for the future that support today’s and even tomorrow’s e-mobility.”

Martin Herrmann said: “The purchase of two Citroën C-Zéro electric cars connects our company to the activities of our mother company RWE in the field of e-mobility. Their intention is to put on our roads cars which are not environmentally harmful and are quiet. At RWE we are concentrating on the development of recharging infrastructure.

Today we are a world leader in the field of e-mobility and, thanks to our experience, RWE possesses its own technology for recharging electric cars and is intensively developing all linked services within the framework of the new project. The fact that our mother company alone employs 60 people dedicated to e-mobility says it all.”
