2011 Honda Civic Hybrid Manchester

For the 2011 Honda Civic Hybrid, Honda has taken the technology pioneered in the Insight and improved on it. It uses a small 1.3-liter, four-cylinder gas engine of 85 horsepower assisted by a 13-horsepower electric motor. When the driver backs off the throttle or hits the brakes, the energy that is usually wasted is captured in a bank of batteries mounted behind the rear passenger seat.

The 2011 Honda Civic Hybrid is available in four trims and offers room for 5. It ranges from the 5-spd MT to the CVT PZEV. A variable speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard and the 5-spd MT is equipped with a standard 1.3-liter, I4, 85-horsepower, hybrid engine that achieves 46-mpg in the city and 51-mpg on the highway. For power the Civic comes with a 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive.

The CVT PZEV is equipped with a standard 1.3-liter, I4, 85-horsepower, hybrid engine that achieves 48-mpg in the city and 47-mpg on the highway.

2011 Honda Civic Powertrain

The 2011 Honda Civic Hybrid has five modes that let the electric and gas engine work together in various ways. The Civic Hybrid has the ability to shut off all of its cylinders by opening the valves to run on electric power alone at low speed. The powertrain of the Civic Hybrid uses a 93-horsepower 1.3-liter four mated to Honda’s Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) hybrid system. The engine is assisted by a 20-horsepower electric motor.

The CVT keeps the engine operating near its peak performance range, which helps optimize the transmission. Like gas powered Civics, the Hybrid gives consumers driving fun into its affordable package.

2011 Civic Conclusions

The Honda Civic is the premium for compact cars. The Civic hybrid adds to this legacy by adding an option that makes many consumers happy in their pockets, the ability to go green. The Hybrid makes a good commuter car with its electric and gas motor. The Civic LX sedan gives consumer a basic compact that is smooth, comfortable and quick.

The EX trim gives buyers a vehicle that is affordable, yet full of features, including heated leather seats in the EX-L. For more info on the 2011 Honda Civic Hybrid visit Honda.com. The GX model is unique and the way to go for the ultimate green vehicle.

2010 Civic Hybrid Awards

The Civic Hybrid was named one of the Greenest Vehicles of 2010 by the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE). With its 42 mpg combined fuel economy [1], and AT-PZEV (Advanced Technology Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle) rating[2], earning this recognition was easy for the Civic Hybrid. Three other Honda vehicles also made the list, making 2010 the ninth consecutive year Honda has had more than three cars named to ACEEE’s Greenest Vehicles.
