One of the tuning company, Mugen Euro is developing a Honda car that has better performance of the 2011 Honda CR-Z by Mugen by giving the R Type with the performance of gasoline-electric hybrid powertrain and high, and fuel that may offer better performance of.

Mugen promises to convert this vehicle into their latest package is equipped with a supercharger that takes CRZ to a greater extent on the performance, and may make an economical fuel consumption and better.

The idea was to use the significant advantage of the early torque provided by the Honda IMA electric motor, then increase of the torque available from the petrol engine gradually, to first maintain and then increase of this, says Mugen Euro s project manager Colin Whittamore. A supercharger and complementary electronics allow us to very neatly map the IMA to the extra power and torque of the engine in a unique package, giving a smooth, integrated and powerful driving experience.

The CR-Z Mugen also keeps the CR-Z’s standard IMA integrated motor assist hybrid package, but Mugen Euro has developed its own electronic package to allow the newly upgraded electro-mechanical system to work in harmony.

Destined to be one of the first hybrid vehicles to be adopted by the mainstream performance community, the upcoming 2011 Honda CR-Z is also one of the first hybrid cars to be tuned by an automaker’s official performance arm.

The Honda CRZ Mugen will still come with its standard 1.5L four cylinder engine, but will get the boost in power from a new supercharger. Standard outputs for the CRZ come in at 113 HP and 107 lb-ft of torque for just the engine, while adding the standard hybrid package will get those outputs up to 122 HP and 128 lb-ft of torque. Mugen has taken their upgrade a step further by developing their own electronic package that, together with the supercharged engine, will deliver a total of 197 HP and 181 lb-ft of torque.

Just like there’s no … in the champagne room, there’s no slacking over at Mugen’s place either.

Lightweight components, including a carbon fiber bonnet, will be employed to lower the overall weight, and the car will use Mugen alloy wheels to reduce unsprung mass. To improve aerodynamics and give the car an even more sporting look, Mugen body parts will be added, including front and rear bumpers, and a spoiler.

“This will be one quick hybrid,” says Martin Moll, Head of Marketing for Honda (UK). “With more torque, more power and Mugen’s experience of working with Honda cars, we’re expecting great things. It promises to show how hybrid cars can be even more exciting to drive.”

At this stage, the CR-Z Mugen is being developed purely as a one-off prototype, with no plans for a production version.

Mugen takes their package a step further by adding induction and exhaust upgrades that they hope will improve the hatch’s current stats of 38mpg and 117g/km CO2. They have also added front and rear five-stage adjustable dampers, bigger brakes, and lightweight 17in forged Mugen GP alloys. Aesthetically, the CRZ will get Mugen-spec front and rear bumpers, a large rear wing, and side skirts. The company has also promised a large reduction in overall weight.

The Honda CRZ Mugen will make its first grand appearance at the 2011 Goodwood Festival of Speed in July. As of right now, it is just a one-off prototype, but Mugen says they are willing to offer it in a limited number production if there is enough interest. At the very least, we should be able to order some of the parts used as aftermarket supplies.

Some of the parts on offer include a new bodykit, a roof-mounted spoiler, a custom grille with LED highlights, and several carbon-fiber accessories and lightweight alloy-wheel designs. There are also some genuine performance modifications such as a sports cat-back exhaust, stiffer springs and shocks and uprated brakes. The modifications continue inside the cabin, with pieces such as an aluminum gearshift knob, a revised instrument clusters and Mugen floor-mats.
