The Android platform is one of the most popular operating systems for mobile devices, but it isn’t until now that the open source platform will become a standard in many vehicles. The Open Automotive Alliance (OAA), which is comprised of some of the biggest names in the worlds of technology and automotive, is working to integrate the Android experience into the cars of the near future.

Android has long been the main rival to the Apple iOS system. With the digital revolution in full swing, it was iOS that got ahead in the market, offering expanded compatibility with a range of devices. Android has been somewhat stagnant in the auto industry, which is a shock to many given its traditionally open software platform.

2014 Honda Civic Adds CVT and Tech From $18,190

The Honda Civic has long been the bare bones, budget-minded economy car for the masses. The 2014 Honda Civic, however, will have a variety of options which just a few years ago would have seemed preposterous for a Civic.

One of the biggest changes to the 2014 Civic is the available Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). Increasingly popular among lower spec vehicles, the CVT in the Civic not only offers a smoother driving experience than a normal transmission, but also increases the fuel efficiency by 2 MPG city and 1 MPG highway compared to the standard five-speed manual transmission. With gas prices remaining a concern for many buyers, the new Civic promises impressive returns.

The least efficient 2014 Civic is EPA rated. Read More
