Honda Fit EV – It’s Electric!

Honda Fit EV – It’s Electric! The price of electric vehicles continues to decrease, and the 2013 Honda Fit EV recently became one of the most reasonably priced electric cars available on the market. As of June 1st, lease prices for the Fit EV dropped from $389 a month to $259. That’s almost a 30% reduction in price!

Plus, this cost features no down payment and unlimited mileage. Furthermore, Honda is covering damage, so buyers just need to pay liability insurance on the Fit EV. If that’s not enough to peak your interest in the Fit EV, Honda is also giving customers the Leviton 240-volt charging station for their homes.

Lessee’s can even keep the station after the three year lease is up.

Features

Apart from reasonable prices, what other features make the Honda Fit EV the distinct choice when it comes to electrical cars? The Fit EV has a 118 MPG combined rating,* making it one of the most efficient cars on the streets. With such a remarkable fuel rating, one would think the Fit EV would demand a considerable charge period. Nope! The 2013 Honda Fit EV can be re-energized in as little as 3 hours from a low-charge indicator illumination point using a 240-volt circuit.

Along with outstanding gas mileage, the Fit EV does not even feature a tailpipe, producing zero emissions. Not feeling the standard efficiency mode for some reason? Flip from the ECON mode to the Sport or Normal buttons for power or a balance between the two.

Interior and Performance

For even more added efficiency with the environment in mind (as always!), the Fit EV features regenerative braking. When you brake, you produce kinetic energy, and kinetic energy cannot be destroyed; this energy typically dissolves as heat and in turn is useless. Regenerative braking recaptures a car’s kinetic energy, converts it into electricity, and uses that electricity to recharge the battery.

The Fit EV incorporates the same functional performance of its gas-powered counterpart, the Honda Fit. The 5-passenger Fit EV offers a roomy and versatile cabin with fold-down back seats. The interior is also designed with the environment in mind. Honda engineers used sugarcane-based substance to produce the cozy Bio Fabric seats of the Fit EV to prevent increasing the demand for nutritional crops like corn.

What makes it different (besides the whole running on electrons part) is the Fit EV is rated at 123 horsepower, compared to the regular Fit’s 117. This makes quite a big difference when it comes to acceleration performance. The Fit EV also features HondaLink EV, an exclusive system that allows drivers to connect a vehicle to their smartphone.

You can easily check charging rates and time left until fully charged so you aren’t left playing guessing games.

Where can you find the Honda Fit EV?

So, how can you get a hold of a 2013 Honda Fit EV? Presently, there is limited production of the Fit EV, and Honda, for now, doesn’t intend to increase production due to the recently elevated demand. It is  only available in California, Oregon, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, and Rhode Island as of now. It is also only available in one color, Reflection Blue Pearl.
