Infinity’s M, it’s always been their street brawler in a suit, and it’s going to brawl a little

harder with this new one. This is the forthcoming Infinity M56. Let’s go in the engine

room and find out where the number comes from. The 56 is 5.6 liters of V8. No turbos or

anything like that, just good old displacement. What we’re talking about here is 420

horsepower, 417-footpounds of torque. We don’t know the 0 to 60 is going to be or the

MPG yet, but again, this is the car for the person who wants an M and isn’t all that

concerned about the gas bill. If you want that, there will be the 3.7-liter V6.

However, there are a couple tricks to save fuel in this vehicle even though it’s on the

biggish side. One of them is what they call eco pedal. So, your drive-by wire that

controls the intake on this car actually will give you a little bit of feedback on the pedal.

Push back on your right foot if you’re driving in a gas guzzling way. Now, you can defeat

that, but it’s going to push back and say mmm, if you want to save gas, don’t push on me

so hard. There are some more tricks inside. Let’s go.

Now, here, in the center console is another way to get this thing a little bit on the eco

side, select eco on the Infinity drive controller right here. You’ve also got a snow mode

that will make it pussyfoot through snowy conditions. The dot is standard, and sport is, of

course, sport. And that’ll modify the whole powertrain curve and I believe in suspension

behavior as well. Transmission is now a seven-speed automatic in this vehicle. Notice

there’s a little bit of different thing going on here with a lot of the traditional Infinity

center stack. First of all, they used to have a much larger controller here that had

directional buttons on it. Now, the controller has been made smaller and more elegant,

and you move the whole thing around instead of pushing the directional button around

the compass, so that’s a little different. And of course, you push in the middle to select,

and you still got a rotating ring there.

They’ve also made a minor change to the rest of this Infinity controller button gear.

They’ve changed the classic Infinity clock. It’s been oval, I think, since day one. Now,

they’ve got this little — kind of a littler Cartier-looking thing with a kind of trapezoidal

rectangle. It’s a small thing, but I notice small things like that. Little different look and

feel on the actual LCD interface, its a little more nicely rendered. Beyond that, though,
