Sebastian Vettel is the 2013 F1™ World Champion

Sebastian Vettel is the 2013 F1™ World Champion

Oct 28, 2013

GREATER NOIDA, Uttar Pradesh, India – Sebastian Vettel claimed his fourth consecutive World Drivers’ Championship title with a comprehensive victory at the Indian Grand Prix, finishing almost half a minute ahead of Mercedes’ Nico Rosberg and Lotus’ Romain Grosjean.

After crossing the line to become just the fourth driver in F1 history to win four titles, Vettel admitted he could not express what the feat meant.

I crossed the line, I was empty. I took ages thinking about something today, he admitted. It’s one of these moments you wish to say so many things but you can’t. The car was phenomenal today. It was phenomenal all season to be honest.

I couldn’t ask for more. I want to say a big thank you to the team. For sure it was not an easy season, even if people from the outside get that idea.

Vettel’s race boiled down to a battle with teammate Mark Webber, with the Red Bull pair on different strategies. Starting from pole on soft tires, Vettel held his lead as the lights went out but pitted after just two laps for the more durable medium tires.

As the other soft-tire starters did the same, Webber, who started fourth on medium tires, took the lead. But Vettel had the edge, rejoining P17 and scything his way through the field to close the gap on Webber.

After their final pit stops, Webber was P4, 12.5 seconds adrift of the German on the same tires, and that was the victory decided. Webber was still looking set for second place, but an alternator problem ended his afternoon early.

Rosberg, who had started on the front row beside Vettel, put in a solid performance to claim second. The team did a fantastic strategy and, yeah, second place, I’m pleased with that. Important for us to have a normal weekend, so a lot of points and giving Ferrari a run for their money in the Constructors’ [Championship].

Grosjean enjoyed a superb afternoon. Having started 17th after an error in qualifying, the Frenchman made a different one-stop strategy work beautifully to climb to third, passing teammate Kimi Raikkonen in the closing stages.

I would not have bet a penny on me being on the podium today, said Grosjean afterwards. But the race pace was really there. We did a very brave strategy, and it paid off.

We’re back on the podium and it’s quite amazing from where we started.

Raikkonen was also passed by Ferrari’s Felipe Massa and then Lewis Hamilton and Sergio Perez – the McLaren driver eventually taking a useful fifth place ahead of the second Mercedes.

Raikkonen settled for seventh place. Behind him, Paul Di Resta finished eighth, ahead of teammate Adrian Sutil. The final point on offer was claimed by Toro Rosso’s Daniel Ricciardo.

Vettel’s victory also meant that Red Bull Racing clinched a fourth consecutive Formula One Constructors’ Championship with three races in hand.

Infiniti Reveals Q30 Concept at IAA Frankfurt Motor Show

Infiniti Reveals Q30 Concept at IAA Frankfurt Motor Show

FRANKFURT, Germany – Infiniti today revealed the next step in its strategy to expand into new premium segments with the debut of the Q30 Concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

The sleek, seductive Q30 Concept is the design vision for a compact Infiniti vehicle with a contemporary, individualized character for a new generation of premium customers. The global compact premium segment is forecast for significant growth with the entry of young-minded affluent customers.

“We are becoming the younger, trendsetting brand, more relevant and more exciting,” said Johan de Nysschen, President of Infiniti Motor Company, Ltd. “Infiniti Q50, and now the Q30 Concept, deliver on this promise.”

De Nysschen was joined by Alfonso Albaisa, the brand’s Executive Design Director, who described Q30 Concept as a vehicle defying categorization. A unique blend of features reminiscing of a coupe, a hatch and a crossover, the Q30 Concept is designed to appeal to younger customers who are less likely to follow tradition and desire to disrupt convention to create their own unique experiences.

By the end of this decade, Gen X and Gen Y will represent 80 percent of buyers in the premium segment, bringing new, more contemporary expectations for premiumness.

Infiniti designers had the freedom to explore bolder, even more sensual sculpting, enhanced muscularity and playfulness, reflecting Infiniti’s approach as the seductive alternative to traditional premium automobile brands.

Infiniti Q30 Concept is the design precursor for Infiniti’s future compact premium entry. Infiniti has previously announced plans to produce a compact model in Sunderland, United Kingdom, starting in 2015.

In addition to unveiling the Q30 Concept, de Nysschen announced start of sales for the all-new Infiniti Q50 sports sedan in Europe. The vehicle will go on sale as of mid-November.

During today’s press conference, de Nysschen also presented Infiniti’s Director of Performance, three-times Formula One world champion Sebastian Vettel, a special helmet to use in testing engineering prototypes of the future compact premium model – the first Infiniti model he will influence from its inception.

Infiniti Releases First Image of Sleek, Seductive Q30 Concept Ahead of World Premiere at Frankfurt Motor Show

Hong Kong – Infiniti has provided a first look at the Q30 Concept, which will have its world premiere at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show as the next step in Infiniti’s foray into new premium segments.

The Infiniti Q30 Concept signals the contemporary design vision for a compact Infiniti vehicle, which will target a new generation of premium customers. It is set to be unveiled at Infiniti’s press conference, scheduled for 10:15 am CET on September 10 in Hall 5 at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Q30 Concept embodies Infiniti’s vision to deliver head-turning design, innovative materials with precise fit and finish and passionate craftsmanship, while provoking a radical shift in the premium compact segment.

The shape of the Infiniti Q30 Concept deliberately challenges categorisation – not a coupe, not a hatch and not a crossover but a fusion of the three. It is designed for customers seeking an alternative to traditional premium compact vehicles and open to convention-challenging approaches.

Infiniti is confident this merging of the dynamic design and sportiness of a coupe, the roominess of a hatch and the higher stance of a crossover will resonate with these customers.

The Q30 Concept design language reflects the brand’s vision to deliver new levels of design, materials, fit and finish, craftsmanship and performance. The Infiniti design team, led by Executive Design Director Alfonso Albaisa, has explored bolder, sensual sculpting and enhanced muscularity with the Q30 Concept as the brand’s design language continues to evolve.

The Q30 Concept signals the next step in an aggressive strategy to extend the Infiniti brand into new premium segments.
