A Dealer Worth Visiting: Classic Cars Bohemia in Prague

We are sent links to cars from obscure dealers all over the globe, and sometimes an inventory is the story, not just one car. Located in Prague, Czech dealer Classic Cars Bohemia  seems to be a central point for the Skodas and Tatras we often see on offer in Eastern Europe. They have numerous early Tatra projects, as well as weird modern Tatras we have never seen before. The same goes for Skodas and GAZs and thenn some more mainstream Isettas and Mercedes busses. It s a fascinating inventory, and in many cases proof that special cars aren t only for those with deep pockets.

Below are a few of our favorites currently in stock.

Though a lot more modest than a V8 Tatra, you d still have to fairly well-off to afford a new Škoda 1000 MB like this 1966 example. Said to be a one-family, rust-free, and preserved car, it s been in dry storage since 1990—coincidentally right around the time W201 Mercedes and MKII Golfs became available under newly restored democracy. Though rear-engined, they re powered by conventional, water-cooled four cylinders, a one liter in this case.

It s said to be fully functional and looks quite clean throughout. Find it here  for 7,990 euros (

$10,813 today).

This 1964 Tatra is a recently-restored, second generation T603 model, which the factory called the 2-603. Though it currently wears the fascia of a later 2-603 II model (1968 through 75), this was likely done during a Kopřivnice factory refurbish, during which cars would frequently receive updated mechanicals as well as bodywork. Of the two, this one is by far the most conventional look. These cars are rightly objects of national pride in the Czech Republic, where there are a handful of shops specializing in very high quality restorations, apparently this dealer among them.

This one looks pretty good to our eyes. Find it here  for 35,900 euros (

$48,591 today).

Said to be one of only 740 built, this 1958 Škoda 450 Roadster looks really nice as the result of a detailed renovation , and is said to be in excellent working order too. The restoration process is said to be documented with thousands of photos, but we don t see them linked anywhere within its ad. This one is front-engined and reminds us a bit of a squashed 190SL with its ridged wheel openings and pontoon fenders.

Like all the cars here it s full of interesting details, notably here the horn button and unusual under hood color scheme. Find it here  for 31,900 euros (

$43,183 today).

Following a pattern we ll end with another Tatra, this one a rare first-year 1996 T700, the very last product of the historic make s car division. Essentially a heavily re-engineered and facelifted version of the Vignale-styled T613, very few were made before production ceased in 1998, ending with it 101 years of continuous automobile development at Tatra. It s said to be in excellent, fully working, uncrashed condition.

Powered by either a 3.5 or 4.4 liter, quad cam, air-cooled, rear-mounted V8, these were sophisticated, fast, comfortable, and very large cars. Find it here   for 46k euros (
