2015 Kia K900 Test Drive

This all-new 2015 Kia K900 has serious plans to challenge German, Japanese and domestic luxury sedans with extensive standard equipment, an executive-class cabin, surprising driving dynamics and eye-pleasing design. It shares the rear-drive platform and powertrain of Hyundai’s very low-volume, ultra-lux Equus, not of its slightly smaller and more affordable Genesis. And it’s offered at first in just V-8 Luxury and VIP variants starting at $59,500 (plus $900 destination).

A V-6-powered base version will arrive later.

Standard on the V-8 are adaptive LED headlights, which adjust to follow the bends in the road, as well as LED daytime running lamps, fog lamps and taillamps. Front and rear park-assist sensors and cameras are standar. Read More

2015 Kia Soul EV Debuts at Chicago Auto Show

Noise-free and emission-free, the 2015 Kia Soul EV rolled into the Chicago Auto Show last week and will be available in U.S. dealerships very soon. Long promised, the Soul EV is the first electric vehicle for the Korean brand and provides a look into possible future models, too. For now, though, the Soul EV offers plenty of impressive technology that should turn green-minded heads.

From the outside, the Kia Soul EV bears only a few distinctions from the standard, gas-powered 2014 Soul that recently went on sale. Among the differences are a filled-in front grille and new front fascia, different wheels and unique blue/white color schemes. Underneath, though, the spunky four-cylinder engines have been replaced by a 27kWh battery. Read More

Kia GT4 Stinger Concept Injects Attitude to the Brand

Their success in the last few years has taught us not to underestimate them, but still, no one expected Kia to roll out a gorgeous sports coupe at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. We’ve seen teasers and fleeting glimpses for a while, but the Kia GT4 Stinger concept officially broke cover this week, and we like what we see.

The GT4 Stinger is a 2+2 sports coupe with a lengthy hood, chrome accents and dynamic profile planted firmly to the ground, thanks to massive curves wrapped around 20-inch alloys. Want to get behind the wheel? Too bad, as Kia says they won’t produce the GT4 Stinger.

Still, we could see many of these design concepts come to dealerships eventually. Here are some of the key feature. Read More

Kia GT4 Stinger Concept Hints at Performance Potential

There’s some Audi R8 in the wide, low-slung body and some Nissan GT-R in the chopped roofline. The big front grille hints at some pretty impressive performance under the hood. Are we talking about a new supercar from one of your favorite exotic brands?

Nope. Try Kia.

The Korean automaker released this teaser image of their GT4 Stinger concept today, providing a little bit of information and a whole lot of intrigue about the new project. Will we see it at the upcoming North American International Auto Show in Detroit? Perhaps further down the line in New York?

It’s too early to tell, but here’s what we do know. Read More

2015 Kia K900 Sets New Brand Standard At LA Auto Show

Continuing its foray into affordable luxury, Kia this week took the wraps off their brand new 2015 K900 flagship sedan. Powered by up to 420 horsepower, the K900 takes Kia’s strategy and throws it into the deep end. Will it resonate with U.S. buyers?

It certainly looks the part. At first glance, the K900 appears to be a larger version of the Cadenza sedan released earlier this year. There is plenty that separates the two, though, from an upgraded interior and chrome exterior trim to standard 16 LED headlights and the first V8 engine ever in a Kia sedan.

Without question, the 2015 Kia K900 takes aim squarely at high-priced luxury sedans that have traditionally. Read More

Kia Brings Wild Custom Soul Designs to SEMA

The annual SEMA Show attracts projects from manufacturers and small builders, all using the event to showcase their craftsmanship, which ranges from understated and sublime to outright ostentatious and overdone.

This year Kia Motors brought a number of 2014 Kia Souls to the event, and in typical SEMA fashion, all were custom-built and modified to reach the market of Kia buyers across the country.

Vans Warped Tour Soul: Vans Warped Tour has been the go-to music tour for growing bands and fans alike. To celebrate the younger generation and their appreciation for music, Kia partnered with the Vans Warped Tour to create a Kia Soul that would embody the Warped Tour experience. 2014 Kia Soul 2.0L. Test Drive

Forget what those suddenly-skinny hamsters in those commercials are telling you; this is the Kia Soul all grown up, not slimmed down. After a wildly successful debut, the 2014 Soul enters its second generation as a more …, more sophisticated car than its predecessor. Does that make it better?

Kia has made tidal waves with its borderline luxurious interiors at affordable prices, and it’s the first thing you notice in the 2014 Soul. In a fully-loaded Soul. (Exclaim) trim, light pours in through the full-length panoramic sunroof and falls into a stunning all-black cabin. Snug, heated leather seats and a glossy black center console make a mockery of the industry standard.

Everything simply looks nicer than it should, all molded together with a design philosophy that ebbs. Read More

2014 Kia Sorento Aces NHTSA Crash Test

The 2014 Kia Sorento, redesigned from the previous model year, has earned a perfect 5-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The new score improves on the previous Sorento, which was given a 4-star overall rating.

“Built on an all-new platform, the redesigned Sorento utilizes Kia’s advanced safety equipment and technologies to provide a high level of occupant protection for drivers and their families as measured by the U.S. government,” said Orth Hedrick, executive director of product planning at Kia Motors America. “Already a compelling entry in the compact CUV category, earning a 5-star rating from the NHTSA makes the Sorento an even stronger contender within its segment while underscoring Kia’s overall commitment. 2014 Kia Sorento Test Drive

The 2014 Kia Sorento has us thinking about siblings. You know, how similar they can seem at times, and yet at others, so different.

The case in point here is the Kia Sorento and the Hyundai Santa Fe. Nearly twins, they share a lot of common components, but it’s interesting in how different they can be as well.

We recently tested the Hyundai Santa Fe Sport; the 5-seater version of Hyundai’s big SUV is extremely stylish and quite sporty. We liked the responsiveness of the Santa Fe’s turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine and thought the overall package was one of the most interesting choices in it segment.

Now there’s also a larger Santa Fe offered, called. well. Santa Fe, that offers three rows of seats, and is similarly. Read More

2014 Kia Cadenza

Following the critical and sales success of its crisply-styled, nicely-equipped Forte compact and Optima mid-size sedans, and following Korean partner Hyundai into more profitable upscale territory, this crisply-styled, nicely-equipped 2014 Kia Cadenza full-sized sedan will take on the equally-new 2014 Chevrolet Impala, the nearly-new Toyota Avalon and other still-fresh full-sizers including Ford Taurus, Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, Nissan Maxima and close-cousin Hyundai Azera. Probably also the near-luxury Buick LaCrosse and Acura RLX. Read More
