2015 Navigator Tries To Make The Lincoln Grille Stick

Determined to turn over a new leaf for a struggling brand in a struggling segment, the 2015 Lincoln Navigator has been unveiled with an intense focus on luxury and technology, plus a brand new twin-turbocharged EcoBoost engine. But before anyone gets far enough to learn about all that the Navigator offers, they’ll have to get past one formidable obstacle: That face.

Last week, I railed on Nissan for planning to implement their V-Motion grille on every model throughout the lineup. Indeed, Lexus and Audi do the same thing, and it’s a dangerous line to walk. Case in point: The 2015 Navigator.

2015 Lincoln MKC to Start at $33,995 MSRP

The 2015 Lincoln MKC, which made its debut at the LA Auto Show, will start at $33,995 including destination and delivery charges. The MKC is Lincoln’s latest attempt at reaching a wider, younger range of customers.

Long gone are the days of shoddy Lincoln quality. Small crossovers such as the MKC are notorious for being pricey, but the price of the MKC remains relatively low, given its features.

The 2015 Lincoln MKC will come standard with a 2 liter EcoBoost engine which puts power through the front wheels. As an available option, the MKC will also feature all-wheel drive, using an advanced adaptive damping system to keep the ride comfortable while still. Read More

2015 Lincoln MKC Enters Crossover War At LA Auto Show (VIDEO)

Keen to jump into the very fruitful luxury crossover market, Lincoln unveiled the 2015 MKC this week at the Los Angeles Auto Show in the new vehicle’s public debut. Following the MKZ sedan debut in L.A. last year, the MKC is the second of four major launches that Lincoln has planned for a complete brand turnover.

How does it stack up? Lincoln returns the controversial winged front grille from the MKZ, albeit toned down a bit, along with nicely sculpted hips and rear quarters. Perhaps the biggest selling point is the new 2.3L EcoBoost four-cylinder engine, and Lincoln is also stressing their commitment to detail and luxury inside the cabin.

We spoke with Lincoln global director Matt Van Dyke and chief engineer Lisa Drake. Read More

2015 Lincoln MKC Debuts With New 2.3L EcoBoost

The new 2015 Lincoln MKC, the newest addition to the small premium utility market, will feature a new 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine. The new engine will be the latest addition to the Ford EcoBoost engine family.

The 2.3L four-cylinder will continue the EcoBoost name. EcoBoost engines are named for their key technological advances such as forced induction, variable valve timing, and direct injection. The 2.3L EcoBoost is no exception.

The small engine produces an impressive 275 horsepower and 300 lb.-ft of torque at 3,000 rpm, according to early tests. This is an upgrade of around 35 horsepower and 30 lb.-ft of torque above the 2.0L EcoBoost found in the standard MKC.

Ford attributes the improved power figures mainly to. Read More

In Appreciation: 1961 Lincoln Continental

The 1961-1969 Lincoln Continental has been easily the most recognizable Continental to date. Various generations of Continentals were built from its introduction in 1939 all the way up until 2002, but none were as desired as the 1961-1969 model years.

The 1961 Continental was designed by Elwood Engel, and was easily the highlight of his career. Engel’s new design made a smooth transition from the large fins of the 1950s, into the slightly more subdued styling of the 1960s.

Without a doubt, the signature design aspect of the Lincoln Continental were the … doors. The Continental measured over 18 feet long, and the engineers originally had issues with the normal 4-door layout. Their solution was to hinge the. Read More

SPIED: 2015 Lincoln MKC Crossover

Executives are counting on the upcoming Lincoln MKC to deliver sales to the ailing brand, and these images from the U.S. desert indicate that testing the crossover is well underway. What can they tell us about the new model’s development?

After debuting at NAIAS earlier this year, the MKC drew praise for its pleasing design and dynamic character lines. Lincoln presented a crossover that looked like a premium luxury vehicle and could certainly introduce a new generation of buyers to the brand. Though we can’t see much through the heavy camouflage, there are both positive and negative signs in these spy shots.

Ford Aims To Improve Hybrid Efficiency

With increasing interest towards more efficient vehicles, Ford is working on improving the C-Max, Fusion, and Lincoln MKZ hybrids to further increase their fuel economy.

Ford has been working on changing the calibration of its full hybrid line. The calibration changes are aimed at improving fuel economy on the highway, on short trips, in cold climates, and while using the air conditioner. To increase fuel economy on the highway, Ford has enabled the use of the electric motor up to 85 mph, up from 62 mph. Additionally, the adaptive grille shutters have been reprogrammed, opening and closing to keep the coolant temperature at an optimal level.

The radiator fans will turn slower when coolant temperature is lower, reducing the power used by the electric fans. [more. Read More

Times have been tough lately for the Lincoln Motor Company, but the luxury brand is insistent that new models will turn their fortunes around. A recent presentation to investors reportedly revealed plans to produce a production version of the MKC Concept, as well as a compact sedan to compete with the likes of the Cadillac ATS and Mercedes-Benz CLA. Can this lineup expansion save Lincoln?

Automotive News and other outlets have reported that Ford executives rol. Read More

2013 Lincoln MKZ

Anyone paying attention knows that Ford Motor Company’s luxury Lincoln brand has faded to a shadow of its formerly prestigious self — but Lincoln says its future begins with this all-new 2013 MKZ. The big, old, full-frame, rear-drive luxobarge Lincoln Town Car, a favorite of limo builders, liveries and loyal owners for decades, is long gone, and other Lincolns of late have been (very nicely) rebadged and upgraded Fords.

There’s nothing wrong with fancying up popular-priced cars and trucks to transform them into luxury entries — every maker from GM to Toyota has been doing that almost forever. But the art is in the execution. For many years, Ford’s mid-range Mercury brand offered slightly upgraded Fords with different grilles, while top-range Lincolns were just another step up on the same basic vehicles.

And both sat side-by-side in Lincoln-Mercury showrooms. Read More

2013 Lincoln MKZ: Test Drive Review

The all-new 2013 Lincoln MKZ is built on the same bones as Ford’s handsome mid-size Fusion, yet looks nothing like a Fusion. Most notable are its nearly coupe-like profile, with a steeply-raked windshield and stretched backlight (it’s 10-percent aerodynamically slicker than the 2012 MKZ it replaces) and a new, more refined, horizontal-bar interpretation of the marque’s recent split-wing grille. The front LED headlights turn with the steering wheel for cornering visibility, and LED lamps at the rear enable a distinctively slim full-width taillamp.

Its beautifully understated cabin is full of rich natural materials and soft-touch surfaces, and its supple premium leather trim is complimented by tasteful w. Read More
