Britain’s Nemesis electric

Ecotricity’s one-of-a-kind all-electric Nemesis supercar

Dale founder of British green company Ecotricity, decided two ago that he wanted to create a fun, fast automobile, ran on nothing but electricity created by his own wind turbines. Vince and his proceeded to buy and gut a used Lotus outfitted it with two electric and after 18 months ended up the Nemesis – a one-of-a-kind 170 mph green that reportedly eats V12 for breakfast.

Vince’s team includes who have designed cars for such as McLaren, Williams and His main stated purpose for the Nemesis was to show naysayers wind-powered cars could not be practical, but that they also be more than golf cart-like toys.

The hasn’t been without controversy. According to the Daily . part of the project’s almost-£1 cost came in the form of a grant from the UK’s Strategy Board. Given the car is now Vince’s daily commuter, he has criticized by taxpayers groups for public funds to score a pretty sweet ride.

In any case, it is indeed an impressive vehicle. Here’s some of the key

Top speed: 170 mph (274 kph)

(161 kph): 8.5 seconds

Two 125 kW motors, producing 330 bhp

Battery pack: 96 x 100 A/h 4.2 V pouch polymer cobalt cells, 36 kWh

Max. torque: 600 Nm

Transmission: Two belt driven reduction

Range: 100-150 miles km), depending on driving

Charge time: Under 2 from empty to full optional fast charger, 8-9 with 13 A overnight charger

weight: 2,571 lbs (1,166 kg)

The obvious car for comparison to the Nemesis of course, be the Tesla Roadster – not only are they both sports cars, but they’re both based around bodies (the Tesla based on the Lotus Elise).

some Tesla Roadster

Top speed: 125 mph (201 kph)

(97 kph): 3.7 seconds

Power: 375 kW AC motor, producing 288 hp (essentially the as bhp)

Range: 245 miles (394 km)

weight: 2,723 lbs (1,235 kg)

So the pips the Roadster for top speed and but although it’s interesting, the is a little pointless anyway of one critical difference not listed – you can actually go out and buy a Roadster. and at a fraction of the (though you’re still at around US$100K). At this there are no plans afoot to any more Nemesises (Nemesi?).
