BBC’s mini update

Wednesday, January 12, at 8:00PM

At the risk of being boring, I will respond one time to the BBC’s Mini shenanigans.

Very early morning I witnessed the departure of Peilow who has decided off his own bat to demonstrate it is possible to drive from to Edinburgh in one day.

He is undertaking the in a Tesla Roadster, £88,000 of state of the art sports car, if you have that kind of you could buy today.

He did this Mr Brian Milligan, a BBC reporter, is on a 4 day covering the same route in an car, the Mini E.

This is built by BMW as a test you can’t buy one, none of are for sale. They are for lease, like GM’s legendary BMW are using them to test the before they produce a built electric car in 2012.

Mr Milligan is repeatedly referring to car as ‘a mass market thereby hoping to give the that ‘this is the sort of car us people can expect to drive.’

It is to anyone who has driven it (I have) and who knows anything about it a reporters job) that not even a niche market BMW would happily describe it as an vehicle, in fact they did to me.

The purpose of the BBC mini adventure is to see how (read how incredibly hard) it is to do a journey in an electric vehicle in 2011. In his endless and tiresome Mr Milligan drones on about anxiety, charge post (will he ever find and how he has to turn the heater off to conserve

He’s doing something the car was not to do. What does he expect? I will ask again, is Mr Milligan to prove. That electric aren’t ready (meaning probably never will That electric cars are a being foisted onto an public? That there a nationwide re-charge network

We kind of know that That electric cars are a created by a secret sect of hugging. enviro-terrorists?

Why is it that I can imagine a certain Mr J trying exactly the same on the wonderful, but rabidly pro-oil BBC show, Top Gear? Why is it that phrase Mr Milligan utters with knowing Luddite

Why did the BBC choose or allow Mr Milligan to this absurd journey, editorial decision was it? What is motivation?

I cannot answer any of questions, nothing I’ve on their wonderful web page has me a hint of an answer.

So what is Peilow’s motivation to do the same in 1 day as opposed to 4?

Mini One Electric Cars

Because he is using a car which was to do this sort of trip. No not me, not Tesla, not even Jeremy C suggest that the Tesla is a market EV. It’s an electric faster 0-60 than a 911 turbo GT3 which costs more. That is the only of car to compare it to, a really expensive car that rich people only the Tesla is cheaper.

Not cheaper to buy, but much to run.

Drive a Porsche London to Edinburgh, you’d to stop for petrol twice, it use 29 gallons or 131 litres. (448 at 15 MPG, I’m being you’d have to hyper-mile to get out of a Porsche) Cost of journey in alone £162. The cost of the Tesla at peak rate prices, about £10.

The cost of driving a petrol Cooper. £77. Cost of the Mini E About £7.

Any of this by Mr Milligan or the BBC. a guess. No. Nothing.

Mr Peilow has twice on that 400 plus journey to re-charge the Tesla has a range well in excess of 200 He is currently entering the outskirts of

Mr Milligan and his supporters in the editorial at BBC news have shot in the foot in their eagerness to and undermine a now rapidly emerging and technology. It’s worth the comments at the bottom of BBC page. It I am not alone in my suspicions of their

The only possible explanation of need to do this daft is to please someone powerful the BBC. I truly don’t who? Do you?
