Gordon Murray releases details about electric AR1

Gordon Murray Designs’ creation, the Teewave AR1, not showcases the firm’s engineering but also illustrates the point integrity, lightweighting and electric meet.

On the day Project T.32 Teewave AR1’s codename) was for its Tokyo debut. the automotive came to know a firm by the of Toray Industries one of the world’s manufacturers of carbon fibre. around the AR1 reveals plenty of carbon fibre, a visual with the vehicle’s carbon monocoque structure.

Everything everything, anyway was done including crash testing. The AR1 was designed, with no full-sized says Frank Coppuck, the engineering director.

A swiped i-MiEV powertrain sits the AR1’s rear axle and compartment. And although the AR1 only a featherweight 63 horsepower and 133 pound-feet its low 1,852-pound curb weight, double wishbone suspension, quick steering and powerful means it should be an engaging

We could squeeze a lot more out of the says Coppuck, but as it is, the T.32 out at 100 miles per hour (160 has a listed range of 100 miles kilometres) and recharges in around hours. We like what we and think that the Teewave AR1 name aside is one spectacular machine.

Gordon Murray and Toray Announce Electric

Today Gordon Murray Limited and Toray Industries Inc a prototype electric sports car TEEWAVE AR.1

The AR.1 had an internal GMD code of ‘ T.32’ and the car is the result of a from Toray for Gordon Design to design, tool and a fully functioning prototype which utilises many of advanced automotive materials in to achieve Toray’s basic of an attractive vehicle for everyone.

The sports car is designed to use the Toray fibre component system a process time of less 10 minutes. A carbon monocoque, one of the key of TEEWAVE, can be applied to all types of other than the 2-seater car.

The entire programme concept discussions to running took just 9 months and was on target, both in terms of and final handover. The power in the vehicle are the base components in one of the commercial electric vehicles available, but the unique electrical and control units were by Gordon Murray Design.

A carbon front crash was designed and developed for the car. A vehicle Euro Ncap test was simulated in addition to a barrier dynamic impact. A process was conducted on the front structure for both half and full energy using tests.

Quasi -static and torsion analysis was also

The AR.1 has a remarkably low weight of 850kg (including the 240kg putting the car firmly in Lotus territory and some 400kg than a Tesla. The ultimate is limited by an output figure of but a torque of 180 Nm available from a start results in lively

A great deal of attention has given to the low weight, low centre of and suspension geometry which has in an excellent ride and handling

The architecture design team was led by Lett and the engineering, composites and team were led by Frank while the electrical system and train design was by Dr Ralph

Gordon Murray Designs’ class prototype build ensured the vehicle was built to and Gordon Murray Designs standards.

At all stages during design and Gordon Murray Design and worked very closely on the use of materials and Toray’s automotive

The Toray team consisted of Yamanaka, Project Leader, Shimizu, Project Manager, Kimoto, Composite Team Yoshito Kuroda, Yuki Kosaku Hashimoto, Composite Alan Riley, UK Composite and Osamu Goto, Project from Geo Technology.

Professor Murray of Gordon Murray said:

It has been a pleasure to with Toray Industries’ on this challenging project. The vehicle weight of just achieved using Toray’s fibre once again that performance through weight is the most efficient and friendly way to achieve power to targets.

Toray Industries

Toray is happy to work the Gordon Murray Design to achieve Toray’s basic of an eco-friendly and highly efficient weight electric concept TEEWAVE. It should be viewed as a for embodying our Green Innovation in the automotive field.
