Peugeot 3008 Overview

The Peugeot 3008 range went on sale in the UK in November 2009.

It is a crossover combining the space of a people carrier with the looks of a Sport Utility Vehicle and the vehicle dynamics of a family hatchback.

The Peugeot 3008 introduced new technologies such as Dynamic Roll Control and Grip Control.

The model is based on Peugeot’s T84 project which featured a forward-positioned front windscreen, interior space, raised driving position and intelligent interior modularity found in people carriers.

It also had a driving position and road-holding from the world of the hatchback.

There was also a split tailgate, driving position and technology giving “all–road” capabilities taken from the Sport Utility Vehicle sector of the market.

The project also optimised aerodynamics and weight as well as using low rolling resistance tyres and hybrid technology to reduce the impact on the environment.

So the Peugeot 3008’s design combines elements of a conventional hatchback with a forward-positioned front windscreen, with features borrowed from the world of the people carrier and Sport Utility Vehicle.

These include the aforementioned split tailgate, modularity, spacious interior, large side windows and raised driving position.

The Peugeot 3008’s styling sees the linking of different design cues. Traditional Peugeot styling signatures at the front have evolved to adapt to the car’s larger size.

At the back there are wide sculpted flanks.

Depending on the individual trim level chosen, the Peugeot 3008 can also have a number of off-road design features such as inserts for the sills and lower panels.

The cabin is designed to be ergonomic for the driver with a position behind the wheel similar to the cockpit of an aircraft.

There is a large glass panoramic roof measuring 1.60 square metres available as standard on the Exclusive version, and as an option on the Sport version.

The Peugeot 3008’s cabin also benefits from a Multiflex interior that can be converted due to its three-position load area floor and automatic folding rear seats.

With the automatic folding seats folded, together with the back of the front passenger seat, the 3008 has a flat load floor area from the lower tailgate to the front fascia panel.

The Peugeot 3008’s load capacity under the parcel shelf is then increased from 512 litres to 1604 litres to the back of the front seats.

A range of equipment is available on the Peugeot 3008 including a head up display, distance alert which helps the driver to keep a safe driving distance from the vehicle in front according to speed, automatic electric parking brake and hill assist.

There os also a range of telematic systems with satellite navigation systems including the Peugeot Connect Navigation or Peugeot Connect 3-D Media Navigation.
