REVIEW — Peugeot 508 RXH

One of the recent additions to the Peugeot line up is the 508 RXH. Based on the 508 the RXH is a diesel hybrid model 4WD and a full electric mode. In all it’s a rather brilliant of technology, and I was very grateful for the to give one a test.

With the of car buyers changing to favour economy and lower running the RXH aims to meet the needs of buyers.

Well would you look at this car. The Peugeot stylists can certainly be of this creation. They’ve a car which already looks the 508- and made it even On the outside the grill is wider a more aggressive stance.

are claw daytime running which help this at the front. The plastic trim the whole car gives a more rugged-ness, and the huge panoramic is just brilliant and classy. are bits of chrome here and and the brushed aluminium alloys fantastic as well.

On the inside everything looks it came from the very top The leather, the plastics, the controls, everything. All top quality and Peugeot can be proud of what the 508 offers in of interior quality.

This on the 508 RXH looks as good, if not better, any of its German rivals, and that’s a big for a French car. Not only everything in the cabin look but it also does exactly you expect it to. There are no trim and things don’t feel they’re going to break.

— 8/10

The engine is things get a bit technical on the 508 RXH. You as well as the 2.0-litre diesel under the bonnet, there is a electric motor under the floor. The engine powers the wheels and the electric motor the rear.

There are many drive modes which are controlled via a dial on the centre The combined effect of both sources is 200PS and 500Nm of That’s a lot, and means the RXH has in-gear acceleration.

0-62mph takes 9.5 seconds, and the top is 132mph.

The RXH also has a full-electric meaning you can waft silently a local village without a soul. This takes getting used to, because a car silently goes against experience up to this time, but I grew to like it. It was nice and and knowing that emissions in mode are zero really you feel good. There is a sport mode which the electric motor to aid performance, and a 4WD mode to offer practicalities in situations.

The 6-speed auto box is but I found it hesitant at time. I would lift off and wait felt like an eternity for the car to to change up. The cure for this was to to paddle shifts, but this is without a rev counter.

As for the handling, the electric motor in the back have an effect. I am not sure what it weighs, but from the way the car I would say a lot. Over the ride is extremely firm, and the bounces like you would from a pickup.

Most unnerving was around bumpy corners, the car would skip, which catches you by at first. Over time I used to the handling characteristics, and on the the RXH is smooth and comfortable.

Economy 10/10

Obviously the whole behind a hybrid vehicle is to in the economy department. Gladly the 508

RXH disappoint. Thanks to its clever capabilities- switching to electric when stationary- and full mode, the emissions of the RXH are 107g/km That puts the car in VED band B. tax will cost you a mere 20 for 12 On a large luxury car, extremely impressive. As well as low the RXH offers combined fuel of 68.9mpg.

Given that car is bigger than your hamlet, and weighs about the as a manor house, that comes as a relief. The 508 RXH is kind to wallet at the fuel stations, and makes you feel good.

Practicality — 10/10

Top go to the 508 RXH for practicality. Despite the large motor, there is still a boot, and this can be extended by dropping the rear seats. to some handles located inside the boot, dropping the seats is very easily

The cabin is incredibly spacious and for tall adults all round. The are comfortable, and with the optional pack the drivers seat can give you a massage while you along. Very nice.

My car was fitted was fully loaded and the was out of this world. As well as the massage seat, it had quad-zone air which allows rear-seat to individually control temperatures. An tailgate means you never to shut the boot yourself and all that energy.

There’s the huge panoramic roof electric blind, cruise speed limited, sat-nav, sensors, parking aid (which whether the car will fit in a space), control, bluetooth, and lots

When I knew this car was due to be I was a bit reserved. I was worried that all this technology the 508 RXH would be far too to be any fun. Gladly it transpired this wasn’t in fact the Quite the opposite in fact.

The fun part of this car was playing with all the different driving and in particular I loved the ZEV (zero-emission mode. This makes the RXH silent, and engaging this and through a quiet village was an in itself. You could almost the neck muscles of passers by as they turned their to get another look. With the up display as well you could the cabin of the RXH for some sort of station.

You will constantly new buttons and things the car can do. And that it entertaining.

Concluding Remarks

The 508 RXH shows the world the advancement in technology which will likely become more place in cars of the future. It this with an impressive package and level of equipment makes it a perfect all rounder. You can one thing; this is a car people ask you about. They will be (slightly) to hear about the contained under the beautiful and they will most be impressed. The 508 RXH starts at a shade 34,000.

That’s a small price to pay for the world.

Total Score 47/50
