RENAULT FLUENCE Z.E. A STATUS-ENHANCING, HIGH-TECH, ENVIRONMENTALLY-RESPECTFUL SALOON COSTING FROM €26,000 

Fluence Z.E. is due to go on sale in Europe from mid-2011 at a price of approximately €26,000 (depending on the local VAT rate). Prices in France will start from €21,300 with the available €5,000 tax incentive deducted. Right hand drive versions will be launched in the UK in second half of 2012

The 2010 Paris Motor Show sees Renault reveal the definitive version of its electrically powered, Fluence Z.E. saloon which will go on sale in Europe from mid-2011. European ordering opens from 30 th September.  Prices will be between €21,300 and €26,000, depending on the local VAT rate and available tax incentive packages, excluding battery.  

Fluence Z.E. will sell in certain countries at prices similar to those of comparably powerful diesel versions of Fluence with the same equipment level. In France, for example, prices will start from €21,300 (with the €5,000 tax incentive deducted). From launch, Fluence Z.E. will come in a choice of two equipment levels.

Customers will also subscribe to a monthly lease starting from €79 (including VAT) to cover the battery.

Fluence Z.E. is a status-enhancing, environmentally respectful, technologically-advanced car that targets private motorists and fleet operators looking for a spacious, comfortable vehicle.

The electric version of Fluence (4.75 metres) is 13cm longer than its internal combustion engined counterpart, and the rear has been entirely redesigned to accommodate the battery behind the rear seats without encroaching on the model s 300dm 3 of boot space (VDA/ISO).

The space enjoyed by Fluence Z.E. s occupants is worthy of that of a saloon car from the next segment up, including best-in-class front and rear elbowroom (1,480mm and 1,475mm respectively).

Fluence Z.E. s cabin carries over all the features found inside the internal combustion-engined version, although the dashboard has been revised to incorporate specific electric vehicle instruments. These include a special gauge which provides information concerning the vehicle s range and battery charge, instead of the more familiar rev-counter.

Fluence Z.E. is equipped with a raft of useful technologies, including an integrated smart satellite navigation system, Bluetooth® telephony, automatic dual-zone climate control and automatic headlight and windscreen-wiper activation.

The NEDC combined cycle operating range of Renault Fluence Z.E. is 100 miles. One of the key issues when it comes to electric vehicles is the optimisation of their range, and Renault has sought to make this as efficient and straightforward as possible. The dashboard of Fluence Z.E. features a Human Machine Interface (HMI) designed specifically to inform drivers about the distance they can travel on the battery s remaining charge.

A number of new functions are also available to spare energy while the vehicle is on the road, including a system that permits it to be pre-heated or pre-cooled when the battery is being charged.

Fluence Z.E. is powered by a 70kW (95hp) electric motor which revs to 11,000rpm, with maximum torque of 226Nm instantly available. Mid-range acceleration and pull-away from low speeds are particularly responsive. This electric motor is vibration-free and very quiet, and there is no need to change gear, making driving Fluence Z.E. a whole new motoring experience.

Top speed has been intentionally limited to  84 mph.

Energy is provided by a 22kWh lithium-ion battery that can be charged in one of two ways:

Standard charge:   This will be the most common method of charging.  The Z.E. would be charged at home or at a publically-accessible charging point.  A full charge will take between 3.5 and 8 hours, depending on model (Twizy, 3.5 hours and Kangoo Z.E. ZOE Preview and Fluence Z.E. between 6 and 8 hours).

  For charging at home there are two methods:  either a connection via a Wall-Box (this protects the domestic circuit) or an EVSE (Electric Vehcile Supply Equipment) offered as an option.  The recommended option is the Wall-Box with the advantages of ergonomics, speed, load optimisation and protection of both the domestic circuit and the vehicle

Quickdrop battery exchange stations . In some countries, Quickdrop battery exchange stations will be available.  The customer will be able to change his depeleted battery for a fully-charged battery in just three minutes.  This scheme is currently planned in Israel and Denmark, in partnership with Better Place..

From launch, Fluence Z.E. will be available in a choice of seven non-metallic or special effect finishes.

The model will be manufactured at Renault s plant in Bursa, Turkey, on the same production lines as those employed for the internal combustion-engined version of Fluence.
