Planning to convert Merceded-Benz 500 Coupe

Hey guys,

Firstly I’d like to say thanks for having me here. It’s a great base of knowledge to help get me started. I see how you all get involved in each others projects and help with numerous advice, this is truly pleasing to be a part of such a dedicated community.

Like the topic says I want to convert Mercedes 500 Coupe W126, year 1986. I’ve always loved this car and I really hope it’s possible to convert it. I had to sell my car a year ago because I just didn’t see any point in paying so much money just for getting from point A and B, so I bought a bicycle and saved loads of cash.

Never the less you won’t take your date on a bicycle ride and then to the restaurant. so here I am, combining my love for the nature, cheap ride, and my woman.

Here are some pictures. This is just so you know how the model looks like, it’s not the car that I have or might buy, since it’s a little above the budget. I’ll be probably ordering the same model from Germany — but in crappier condition

—My skill level is average. I know stuff about cars and I got great two helpers who want to get involved who are X-electricians with a great background.

—Range. Hmm, trick question? I’d love for the car to go around 100km/62miles (50 one way, 50 back) without recharging. This is how far it is to my summerhouse and back. The trip involves driving on a highway, well most of the road

—which brings me to performance. A 100km/h (62-65mph) would be good, 110km/h would be better.

—Money. Its all about the money. Well, the budget is fairly flexible, not as flexible as the dudes from Croatia pimpin his BMW (great job by the way) but I think I can spend around 8k U.S.

—I haven’t considered any parts yet, since I want to make sure whether the car is suitable first. I’d love for this project to be one of the older coupe Mercedes. God I hope it’s possible lol

I’d like to hear some feedback from you guys. As you can tell I’m very new to this. I’m thinking on purchasing Gav’s tutorial, but has any one purchased it. How detailed is it?

By the way I’m located in Eastern Europe, so all the parts that will need to be purchased will have to be bought in EU or I’m even considering Russia, although I’m not sure of the quality there, but in terms of $$$ it could be much cheaper. You thoughts?

Thanks for reading and all your comments.
