Review: 2014 Subaru XT

The Forester is a critical piece of s sales pie. It made up 23% of sales last year. re hoping to continue seeing with the all-new 2014 which is longer, wider and than the last model.

makes no bones about it re positioning it as an SUV these days. it have the chops to deliver on positioning?

If you know your Subarus, you ll the Forester instantly recognizable. But the is a nice one, and the XT adds a few touches especially at the front end its lower side intakes and in the wells, which are filled lovely 18-inch rims 225/55-sized rubber.

Though up, the lines remain clean, and business-like. As it s coming toward the XT glares with cool LED lighting, and at night, the HID headlights great and do a good job lighting the ahead of you.

It s tough to but somehow, the new Forester has a more appearance when it s on the road. might have to do with the width.

Under the Hood

It t be a Subaru if it didn t have a boxer engine under the The XT gets Subaru s new 2.0-litre direct injection boxer an intercooled twin-scroll turbocharger. It up the power to 250 horsepower at rpm and a juicy 258 lb.ft of torque s available to you from 2000 all the way to RPM.

CVT haters will be to find just that a CVT as the option for the XT. I m here to tell you it ain t bad at and I m no fan of CVTs. But more on that The Lineartronic CVT has a manual mode, and you can access two different sport One is called SI mode, which the transmission feel like it has six and the more aggressive S# (sharp) bumps things up to eight ratios.

It is an system, and keeps the car feeling planted and in control.

Put the Forester the wringer, and there is no question it is shifting the power to the exact you need it. To call it confidence is an understatement. You can throw this SUV any curve or any corner and you know you re out of it just fine.

 When I a vehicle that is as happy to along city streets as it is to up mountain passes, fully with gear and a family, I get When it fits my family, and them a safe place to be on the I check off another box on my list. goes for reasonable fuel awesome cargo space, tech and the ability to head off on top of it all, it s fun!

I give the Subaru Forester an 8.5 out of 10. So s not to like?

Well, WAF (Wife Factor) was, sadly, not as as I d hoped. She wasn t a huge fan of the inside or out. And that a lot to her.

She admitted that it was a car to drive though, and she did love she could knock off an entire day at the and still have room over in the trunk.

If it were up to me, I be considering the new Subaru Forester to the place of our minivan. I highly it as a smart, practical and fun vehicle can do it all. I just need to the other boss in the house
