Zippy new electric car looks like a three wheeled shoehorn

Tallmadge, Ohio (AFP) Oct 18, 2007 Tired of waiting for big auto to come up with a truly clean car, Dana Myers has developed a tiny solution to the carbon crisis. Tucked into a corner of his family’s factory, behind an industrial crane and giant transformers, sits a fleet of what look like three-wheeled technicolor shoehorns. Unlike the hybrids currently on offer, his No More Gas runs entirely on electricity. And its engine is powerful enough to zip down the highway. There is one rather large catch. It has a maximum battery range of just 30 miles (50 kilometres) and room for just the driver and some groceries in the trunk. Which could be why he’s only sold 35 of them. Dozens ...

What It& s Like To Drag Race An Electric Car

What It s Like To Drag Race An Electric Car Quiet. Weirdly quiet. That’s probably the most striking thing. And, while I’d hesitate to say fast, it wasn’t quite as slow as you might think. But still pretty slow. Pretty very slow. I also dragged a Chevy Volt that same night, to quite similar results, if a bit louder and a bit quicker. I was at Willow Spring’s drag racing night because I’d just been shooting a big electric car segment at the track with ABC’s Nightline — I’ll talk about that more in a later post. We came to the track with a Nissan Leaf. a Chevy Volt. and a Tesla Model S. though for a number of reasons I was forbidden to drive the Tesla ...

Will fast, quiet electric cars make noise in Minn.’s auto market? Listen Electric car Apr 26, 2010 Wheego Whip MPR Photo/Dan Olson When new electric-powered cars make their debut later this year, they will garner some interest among car buyers and companies with fleets. Much more interest, though, will be generated by people concerned about the environment. It’s not yet clear how many of the new models will be available in Minnesota. Today, the nearly five million gasoline-burning cars in Minnesota spew out 37 million metric tons of green house gases a year. Altogether, the country’s fuel-burning fleet — everything from scooters to semitrailers — accounts ...

Don& t expect electric cars to substitute motor cars likeforlike …

InnovToday Don t expect electric cars to substitute motor cars like-for-like Disruptive innovations often combine a changes on several dimensions: product, consumer experience, market segment, business model. The emblematic example remains the iPod, which would not have met its phenomenal success if it had not been associated with the business model change that iTunes brought to the music distribution industry. Like-for-like substitution of the old product by the new product, everything else being equal, is rarely a recipe for breakthrough innovation. Take the electric car. The current focus of the auto industry is to increase battery autonomy and drastcially reduce recharging time in ...

Mitsuoka Le Seyde. Like Zimmer, Excalibur. Unique. SOLD (1991) Not for sale — it has been sold via a Car and Classic Free Ad Mitsuoka Le Seyde. Only 8000 miles. I believe my car is the only Mitsuoka Le Seyde in the UK. It is very like an Excalibur or Zimmer, but was actually made in Japan in 1991. This gives a number of important advantages over an American car, as it is right hand drive, reliable, very easy to maintain, and far more economical. It is based on a Nissan 200SX / Silvia. Mitsuoka took all new components, stretched the Nissan chassis, and fitted a new body. Back in 1991 it was a very rare and expensive car in Japan, and is even rarer today. At the time it was dubbed ...

The platform comes standard with Nissan s Leaf (console and car pictured), which is currently is ...
