Volkswagen Group shows entry possibilities for the car IT of the future at CeBIT

• Group CIO Dr. Martin Hofmann: We are shaping the IT of the future

• Volkswagen presents information on Connected Car and electro-mobility

Volkswagen Group IT is presenting itself at CeBIT in Hanover from March 10 to 14. Five Group brands are giving visitors a glimpse of the world of car IT and demonstrating innovative technology for the electro-mobility of the future. In addition, Personnel Human Resources Marketing is presenting information on career entry opportunities at Group IT.

Before the start of CeBIT 2014, Group CIO Dr. Martin Hofmann said: We offer graduates and young IT experts the best prospects of shaping the IT of the future together with us. As the largest IT organization in the automobile industry, we provide outstanding opportunities.

We are partners to all specialist departments, regions and brands, from development through to sales, from Argentina to China. That guarantees a wide variety of tasks.

The focus is on graduates in computer science, business IT and engineering. People can join Volkswagen by direct entry, via trainee programs or as doctoral candidates working on their theses. At CeBIT, presentations and a multimedia wall with job advertisements in Hall 9 give an overview of practical opportunities.

The Woman Experience Day targets female students. At the invitation of Technical Development and Group IT, female students of engineering and computer science have an opportunity to visit CeBIT and receive information on entry and career prospects at Volkswagen.

This year s CeBIT presentation focuses on the topics of Connected Car and electro-mobility. Exhibits on the 850 m² stand in Hall 2 include a cockpit controlled by gestures. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is showing eT , an electrically powered postal delivery van that automatically follows its driver along the edge of the road thanks to assistance functions. Porsche is exhibiting a Panamera with hybrid powertrain 1  and Audi a hybrid A3 e-tron 2 . MAN demonstrates the way vehicles and IT are growing together with a telematics app.

This optimizes the routes of trucks and informs the drivers about vehicle data.

Outside the trade fair hall, Volkswagen is also presenting electro-mobility in the metal . An e-up! 3  fleet comprising 15 vehicles provides a shuttle service around the exhibition area.

Giving an idea of fleet management systems of the future, real-time information on vehicle locations, battery charge and range is transmitted to the Group IT stand, where the data is processed and presented.

Every day, Volkswagen Group IT connects millions of people. Modern systems solutions link about 570,000 Group employees from 300 companies and locations to more than 1.2 million employees of suppliers. 650,000 dealers employees are also connected.
