New 2014 Volvo XC60 Prices

The 2014 Volvo XC60, according to Volvo, offers drivers the chance to tackle any path laid before them — whether it’s Main Street or a bumpy mountainside.

There are three chassis platforms to choose from – the Dynamic, the lowered R-Design Sport Chassis, or the electronically controlled Four-C Chassis that is capable of performing 500 calculations per second.

As well as its big wheels, the new XC60 has high ground clearance and optional All-Wheel Drive, which when combined with Hill Start Assist and the optional Hill Descent Control means drivers are able to take all manner of routes with confidence. The reviewers say it makes for a family-friendly crossover with class.

It’s available in two five-cylinder diesel models and with the less powerful model a choice of two or four wheel drive.

The 2014 model range begins with SE (alloy wheels, rear parking sensors and four electric windows, plus climate and cruise controls, automatic wipers and Bluetooth, and of course the cheapest list prices. The top of the range is SE Lux (leather upholstery and electrically adjustable driver’s seat).

R-Design is for the enthusiastic sporty driver (body kit, sports seats and chassis with stiffer suspension). All specs offer as an option voice-activated sat-nav and an upgraded audio system.

A wide new grille and daytime running lights have been added by Volvo to make the XC60 more recognisable along with the classic Volvo V-shaped sculpted bonnet and the floating centre stack.

Drivers are able to personalise their XC60s with a choice of Adaptive Digital Displays to suit their mood. Plus they can choose the voice-activated Sensus ConnectedTouch system that allows them to navigate with more ease while benefiting from the world of internet-based entertainment.

A new advanced City Safety system, which is covered by the new Volvo XC60 prices, means that if any vehicle in front stops suddenly and the driver doesn’t react, the car itself will apply the brakes – at speeds of up to 31mph. Volvo’s new Active High Beam means other drivers won’t be dazzled. An XC60 plug-in hybrid concept was revealed at the 2012 Detroit Motor Show, powered by a 276bhp 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine and a 69bhp electric motor, driving the front and rear wheels respectively.

With regards to practicality — one of Volvo’s strong suits — the 2014 XC60 has a spacious 655-litre boot capacity behind the rear seats, and the loading bay is flat larger objects can be slid in easily. The reviewers say the rear seats offer plenty of room for fully grown adults to sit in comfort and there are a good number of cubby holes inside the cabin, too.
